Well, it's the time of the year when everyone is putting out their "Best of this..." & "Best of that..." lists, so I figured I might as well hop on the train.  2017 was an exceptional year...for music.  So many great songs, and so many great albums came out this past year.  So without further adieu, I give you Nik Rivers' Top 5 albums of 2017!

#5 - AJR - "The Click" (BMG Music) - Three brothers from NYC put together one of my surprise favorite albums of 2017.  From the opening track "Overture" this album had my attention.  Catchy songs, great lyrics, and a surprise appearance from Rivers Cuomo of Weezer!

Recommended Track: "The Good Part"

#4 - Beck -Colors (Capitol) - The man teased us for nearly three years that he was going to release a new album.  2017 finally yielded Colors.  From 1st listen, I thought the record was Grammy worthy, and the academy agreed giving Beck his 17th nomination

Recommended Track: "Fix Me"

#3 - Barns Courtney -The Attractions Of Youth (Capitol) - After seeing him live at SXSW in Austin last year, I was highly anticipating the full length debut from #TKBC vet Barns Courtney, which finally dropped in stores this year.  From "Fire" to "Golden Dandelions" to "Hobo Rocket" this one is sure to have something for everyone.

Recommended Track: "Hobo Rocket"

#2 - Ron Gallo "Heavy Metta" (New West) - Who says guitars are dead?  My man Ron Gallo brings em’ back with some bluesy attitude on "Heavy Metta

Recommended track - "Black Market Eyes"

#1 - Portugal. The Man -Woodstock (Atlantic) - At Long Last!  The band garnered their 1st ever #1 song in 2017!  And they delivered the album of their careers.  Hat's off to their hard work and persistence, and if you have been there since their 1st album like me, hats off to you!
Recommended Track: "Rich Friends"
